Moving Companies
Ever wondered how people move from place to place so efficiently? The chances are that you haven’t, but you want to know now because I just said it. You can thank me later. Well, the answer to that wonderful question is moving companies. These companies are dedicated to making your move as simple and stress free as possible. There are companies everywhere, and you can be moving down the street or across the whole world, there are people out there willing to be of service. Not for free of course, it comes at a price. But what doesn’t these days?
So you really have a range of different companies offering diverse methods of getting your items from here to there.
Are There Differences in Moving Companies?
Here are a few different types for you to read up on:
I’m going to start off with the easy one, local movers:
You would want to consider using a local mover if you are moving not too far away from your current home or office; I’d say within 100 miles.
You are charged during a local move, not by the amount of weight, but by the time travelling to your location (A.K.A Travel time) and of course the amount of time it takes to move your belongings.
Now why would you use a local company? Well, with local moving companies you always have that personal touch, you can go down to their office and consult with them, they can answer any queries, concerns you may have. Be careful of scammers though, be sure to meet up with them at their place of residence and be able to trust them.
Now, you can get them to pack your items for you, and this can be really helpful. But in my opinion because you aren’t moving far you don’t need a professional packer. You should just be careful to pack your things securely and nicely in boxes. A good mover will protect your furniture by wrapping it in blankets before it enters the moving truck.
International moving:
If you are moving from one country to another, that is a big step to take, and you will need a big company to do this. I recommend using a respectable company in this so that you know you can trust them not losing all your belongings. It can cost $8000 for a 20 foot container, so it doesn’t come cheap. But it is the only realistic way to move your belongings internationally. These companies must pack your belongings carefully to a professional standard so that nothing is damaged, as it is a long journey to move across the world. A lot can go wrong, and so packing is very important. You will also want to get insurance on your items, which is from 2% to 5%.
Interstate moving:
This is similar to the container moving, you can have the option of packaging your items yourself and then them taking your belongings to your new house. However with interstate moving it is quite a big step, and a long journey. These companies will package your items professionally to prevent damage, and then take the long haul across the country to deliver your items.
There are so many options when it comes to moving companies. Remember best price isn’t always the best option. Choose wisely.
